Vintage Thingy Thursday--Portraits

It's Vintage Thingy Thursday and Thanksgiving Day.  I was thinking about my family and how thankful I am for them and remembered I had this gorgeous portrait of my Grandma on my hard drive!

Isn't she beautiful!  This was probably taken in the late thirties.  I love the trim on her dress and the shear overlay.  And the pin curls!

She looks so feminine and helpless.  It's hard to believe she's the same Prairie Woman grandma my sister wrote about last year.  The grandma that shot rattlesnakes in her living room.  Who also shot a skunk drinking from the drip in her watercooler.  She did whatever it took around her home to get the work done inside and out.  She drove the tractor and the combine and helped work cattle. And she babysat her grandkids endlessly, spoiling us all rotten.  There was never any doubt that her grandkids were the smartest and most beautiful and handsome around.  She'd be glad to tell you about it!

She was (and is) a beautiful woman and she sure made a lot of beautiful memories with us.

Love your post. Yes, a beautiful woman. My grandmother and greataunts were similar. My greataunt chopped wood for her woodstove while still in her 80's.
