April is National Poetry Month!

Try it--go ahead--write a poem. It's fun! It doesn't have to rhyme, it doesn't have to have meter or rhythm. Just play with words--try to say a lot with just a little.

Here's what I wrote Tuesday morning at breakfast:

With my morning coffee in hand, over devotions and watery oatmeal,

I pause and admire the blossoming, delicate color that fills the east.

Pink and gold, orange and lavender, lapis blue,

Slowly growing and glowing,

driving back the night, dimming the stars,

Until finally the blinding, harsh light of day

Forces me to move my Bible and my coffee cup and my empty oatmeal bowl

to the other side of the table.

I challenge you to write and post at least one poem this month--do it!

Don't be scared!
