Great Western Blog Posts

"Why memory lane can be such a mortifying stroll."

Isn't that a terrific title?  I wonder what it means?  What was I thinking of when I jotted that phrase down?

I'm an amazing writer!  Inside my head, when there's no computer keyboard in sight,  I'm funny, organized and articulate.

My most creative moments are when there is no pen or paper to be found.  When I wake up at 4:00 a.m. with a terrific idea, half written out in my dreams, poetic phrases are begging to be written down..  But when I drag myself from the bed, grope for my glasses and struggle to the living room for light and writing materials, the words have wafted away like dandelion fluff on the summertime breeze.

I can write 10 blogposts in the shower.  By the time I get out, I've forgotten 9 1/2 of them.  I once read an article about a girl who was often inspired in the shower so she kept a Sharpie handy to write her ideas on the walls.  Isn't that a great idea?  Except for the cleaning part.  And except for the part in the article that said she was manic depressive.....or some sort of mental illness.  I'm not sure what that says about me.  And where did she keep the Sharpie?  In a ziploc?  On a little rack with her razor? Tied to a string from the shower head?  Or did she just grab it everytime she hopped in?

I've learned a lesson about writing.  Don't turn on the computer when a great idea comes along, thinking that you will quickly type it up before bed, log off and be snoozing by 10:30.  I'm here to tell you that is an impossible dream.  Because when I go to my blog to update it, I glance (quickly of course) to all my friends listed on the sidebar, checking out to see who's written something new.  Then I click to read--just one of course!  When at last I actually sign in to the dashboard, my eyes go to the 'blogs I'm following" box, and of course, I check those out.  Then pretty soon, before you know it, it is 1:00 a.m., my family is asleep and I still have not written that brilliant blog post!

I think perhaps I should take advantage of that program on my computer that posts to blogger for you.  If I can remember what it is called...

About the pictures--These are the Gloss Mountains between Enid and Woodward.  We went shopping before Christmas--just Les and I--and I of course had my camera.  So of course I poked it out the window (with the strap on my wrist!) and took pictures.  And Les said those won't be any good--he's such a killjoy--how could he doubt my photog skills???  And they weren't that great but when you make them sepia and sing Marty Robbins songs, they kinda work, don'cha think?

I LOVE your "mortifying stroll" title.

Love it.

AND - - - I've taken quite a few of those mortifying strolls myself.

You are a great writer, and not just inside your head. I always enjoy your posts. Wish I had more time to sit and read posts. There are so many talented, creative bloggers out there-including you.-(The Sharpie's not a bad idea, and I too am curious where she keeps it).
