Just a few Apricots

So my mom called and said she had a few apricots if we wanted any.

We abandoned our busy schedule of vacuuming the house (because it's Friday and all!) and headed west. Since the girls now have lives of their own, we took the dog to have someone to take care of.

Pardon, digression in progress.
See that swingset?  My dad made it when we were kids.  (I think! :)) Hanging from it is a tire swing made for me by my great grandad.  It's still in use with the next generation--his great, great grandchildren!  But I fear it is about worn out and will need to be replace.  There was many a summer day whiled away swinging in that swing!  No matter how hot it was, you could get a good breeze going if you swung high enough!

We will now return to our regular (somewhat) post.  Thank you!
Mom was right (again!).  She did have a few apricots.

Hey! Les, where are you?  You are blending in with the tree.  And the ground.

There were a few apricots on the ground and in buckets and boxes and hanging in clusters like grapes from the trees.

So we picked a few gallons, then came home and made a few batches of apricot jam.  Then we cleaned up a few splotches of apricots here and there around the kitchen then collapsed in bed for a few hours of sleep!

We have just a few (more boxes and buckets, etc, etc) to cut up and freeze for future pie use.  Yum!

I was just dropping in to wish you and yours the happiest Independence Day. May your day be full! May you enjoy laughter shared with family, great food shared with friends, fireworks to make you gasp, a lump in your throat at the anthem, and a full and grateful heart at all we have been given. Happy Fourth of July, my friend!
