VINTAGE THINGY THURSDAY:
Presenting the 'Real McCoy' (heehee)--a set of McCoy cannisters!
My mom picked these up at an auction for a song--she doesn't collect McCoy Pottery but the bids were low so she thought she'd get in on the action and won the bid!
She offered them to me. I'm not sure I even like them, aside from the name. They remind me too much of my 1980s house when I was first married--pink (or was it mauve?) and blue and hunter green and country--ick. Now I'm into red and blue and ummmm possibly I'm a little bit country (are you a little bit rock and roll?) But no dried flowers. Well, only if it's lavender because that's soothing. So ok--dried lavender--but no other dried flowers.....
Can you tell I'm very tired?--Last week's supermodeling stint, opening night for Annie (my husband was Rooster), prom decorating marathon, and the still ongoing never-ending End of Instruction tests that the higher powers of Congress have inflicted upon schools have worn me down! So I'm getting a little silly. When I'm not Grumpy!
Maybe I'll rant about the testing and the congress and the school funding later but.....

Ummm, even though I fear your grumpy wrath...today is Wednesday. Or is it rath? hmmmm I think it's wrath, but as usual I'm too lazy to look it up! I actually turned down those canisters! Glad you took them off of her hands!

Good for your mom on winning the bid! I know what you mean about the color. When I first set up my house after getting married, my colors where pink and mint green! Very "in" in 1986, now ??? Eeeewwwww!!!

These are great! And McCoy...yes, the do remind me of the country decor I had plastered in my house during the 80's and the dried flowers, but even if you are not too keen on them now, hang on to them, in a few years they may be the rage again! I however, love them. They are simple in design and I am sure feel wonderful being McCoy.
Well, Dawn all I can say is your Mom done good. If you don't want them you can sell them on Ebay and probably get a good price, McCoy is very popular in this area of the Country. Thanks for sharing.

PS forgot to say when I built my home the colors were lime green, orange, brown and golden yeller...now that was some sicken colors, don't know why we though they were pretty. yuck.

You sound so much like me--those McCoys would have fit right in to my kitchen and I still have hunter green in my family room...oh, no. The canisters would look nice in a baby's room holding supplies...I'm just thinking.
Your right it does remind me of the pastel eighties. Still a wonderful collectors item.
