More Thriftiness!

Another thrifted treasure of course!  I spent one dollar on these three Annalee Mobilitee Dolls from the 70s to 80s. They are made of felt and their body is wired to make them pose-able.

I had fun setting up these little vignettes to take pictures of them. I especially love the little Attic Mouse scene above.  Except for the Doll and the candle, all of the props in the picture were second hand!

The origin of the company is interesting.  Annalee Thorndyke and her husband had a chicken farm which failed in the 50s.  She turned to her childhood interest of doll-making as a way to make money and a successful company was born. It surprised me to find that new, these six inch dolls sell for $27.00 to$34.00.

They are cute but not really to my taste.   They certainly look happy though!  And I had a good time researching them.  I know, I'm a nerd....

Oh, I already thought they were cute, but reading the story of their "parents" makes them really special!!! I say, display them with pride and keep tellin' the story!

Maybe they're not in real life, but they seem kinda creepy...But I'm glad you had fun!
