Wedding Gifts I'm Still Using--Pretty!

Hey--I'm having a giveaway!  CSNstores.com has donated a $40 gift certificate to one lucky person whose name will be drawn Saturday.  Go to this post and comment to enter!

When we opened this crystal pedestal dish, I thought, "Oh, How pretty."  And since I'm all about revealing my inner rude, sarcastic, er, person here, I will tell you, then I thought, "What the heck will I do with this--I'm not a 'crystal' person. I'm a pottery person, everyone knows that!"

I don't recall who gave us this beautiful crystal pedestal bowl.  It was used as one of our few eclectic decorative items--I believe I displayed it in all my decorating skills with a cross stitch picture, a hand turned wooden bowl, photos in plastic frames and a large brass ewer (fancy pitcher) that has since been lost in garage sale land. Sounds lovely!

It really is beautiful and heavy and when I clunk it in the cabinet against my thrift store finds, it rings a beautiful, clear-as-a-bell note!

I'm so glad I didn't get rid of it even though it wasn't my taste at the time.  (I really can't say alot about my taste at the time except that it was very narrow and limited to blue and rose country style.  blech)

This has been a serving piece for tea parties and showers.  I've filled it with Easter eggs and Christmas ornaments.  And sometimes when I'm feeling fancy, I put fruit in it.

And sometimes I set it out just to see the light shine through it in rainbow patterns on the dining table.

But that highlights the dust, so I usually put it away pretty quick!

We too received a crystal pedestal bowl as a wedding gift, and I thought pretty much the SAME thing!

It's been sitting in the middle of my dining room table for at least the last 7 years!

BTW - - - I showed it in a Vintage thingies post back sometime in the past.

So...Who gave it to you?

Okay, I'm chuckling, 'cause I have NO IDEA who gave me my gifts like that...although, sadly, I didn't receive a crystal pedestal bowl. I received tiny crystal dishes, that I still don't know what the heck to do with, because they are too small to serve anything in!

Oh, I love that bowl. Funny, I have no pottery, but TONS of crystal. I love how different we can all be and still be part of the same loving tribe.
