Vintage Thingie Thursday--Baking

This blue and pink banded bowl was my husband's great-grandmother's. Everyone speaks fondly of her wonderful cooking and when I brought this bowl home, the evidence was embedded in the scalloped trim on the rim. The bowl was grungy looking but a good scrubbing removed all traces of ancient baked goods from the grooves.

If I'm not careful, I'll start a new collection of measuring cups. I had never noticed patterned and decorated measuring cups before but one day while browsing in a local antique mall, I came across these printed with a basket weave and fruit. They were on sale (sold!) and I didn't notice the little on was missing a handle till I brought them home. But I didn't really mind because they are too cute to care!

I've never washed these green measuring cups because the paint is flaking off. (Can you say lead-based? Surely not!) I've just dusted them and put them up for display on top of the cabinets. I don't know what I'll do when the get too coated with kitchen greasy dust. Oh well, I'll worry about that when the time comes!
Vintage kitchen gadgets make our kitchen inviting.

Now head on over to the Colorado Lady and participate in Vintage Thingies. Post your own, sign up with Mr. Linky (don't be scared, it's easy). Then you can travel around the world viewing other vintage goodness!

The bowl is a treasure imagine the
stories it could tell!!! I see you have the classic Betty Crocker Cook
Book, that's the one my Mom used!
It qualifies for vintage too!

I love those fruit measuring cups. I bet the green ones would look nice with small plants in them.

Fun stuff! Ooo, I'm sure others will be scrubbing the food grunge off of my bowls when I'm gone.
Love those cups.

Oh Dawn,
That bowl reminds me of Clay's Mam-ma, she made meatloaf and chocolate chip cookies in a bowl just like that!
