Foggy Tuesday Morning

Everything was damp this morning.  There were puddles on the driveway and water dripping from the bare branches of the trees.  The sky was cold and gray and cloudy.

It was a lovely surprise to look out the school window midmorning to see this:

God had enveloped our world in a quiet blanket of fog.  Everything seems muffled and calm when it is foggy.  Do the earthbound clouds really absorb the noise?  Or are our ears lulled when the horizon is hidden by mist?

As I slipped out the back door of the school to take this picture, I longed to walk away and lose myself in the silent wonder of the day.  It would have been blissful to be wrapped in the damp silvery blanket of fog and be alone.  To take a walk in the nearby woods and perhaps find hidden in the mist a surprise around every familiar corner.

That is a pretty picture, fog is an instant reminder of my childhood. It makes you want to curl up with a good book!

It makes me want to take a nap and bake cookies....

Probably best if not done at the same time.
